The Unborn (2009)

Narrative
Equilibrium: Casey is an only child, babysitting her neighbour’s children
Disruption: she begins having hallucinations and the child she’s babysitting behaves strangely
Recognition of disruption: Casey discovers she was a twin, but her brother died in the womb. Believes the child with bright blue eyes is her brother trying to come into her world.
Attempt to repair disruption: Casey tries to keep the child away from her. When he begins killing people she loves, she, her boyfriend and Rabbi Joseph Sendak perform a séance.
Reinstatement of equilibrium: the child is gone and Casey tries to live her life without her best friend and her boyfriend.
Disruption: Casey discovers she’s pregnant with twins. The film ends with a close up of Matty saying “Jumby wants to be born now”.

Sound
-          Slow, eerie music
-          Music becomes loud and dramatic when the haunting child appears inside mirror

-          Voice over of Sofi reading the letter she wrote to Casey
-          The dramatic music and screaming suddenly stops, straight cuts to Matty say “Jumby wants to be born now” and all the music and screaming begins again
-          Casey’s nightmares – sound is muffled, screaming; hard to hear, no one can save her because they can’t hear her
